Principles for Conducting Workplace Investigations

AWI

Founded in 2009, the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) is a professional membership association for lawyers, human resource professionals, private investigators, and others who conduct, manage, or have a professional interest in workplace investigations.

AWI - Australia is a chapter of the AWI. It includes members from Australia.

Our mission is to promote and enhance the quality of impartial workplace investigations and support those working in this field. An impartial investigation is conducted to help employers determine the facts surrounding workplace allegations. It aims to address potential breaches of the organisation’s policies, standards, or legal obligations. The objective is to provide a fair and unbiased process for the complainant and respondent, gathering information to make reasoned findings. These Guiding Principles were developed by a subcommittee of AWI - Australia, derived from the AWI’s Guiding Principles, and adapted to the Australian context.
